This is the final edit of my music video ‘Keep You’.
To answer this question I made a vlog.
To add on to with my video, I also used:
YOUTUBE- I uploaded my music video to youtube, it is a great way to get information about who views your video and facts about the video. Along with my music video I also uploaded various other feedback videos and more vlogs about the process of my music video.
WORDPRESS – I used this website to create my blog, I have used this to post all my tasks and creations on, it has helped keep me organized and get the work all in one place.
TRI-POD – I used a tri pod with almost all my filming, this was a key item I used to get all my footage stable.
PHOTOSHOP – To create my digipak I used photoshop, it was very straight forward to use, and was a great success.
I posted my video on youtube, and went on the Analytics page and took screenshots of all my views and where they come from etc..
Seeing this page was very informative to find out where my viewers lived, how they found my video (either through youtube or an outside link for example my blog). I can see how many people watched the video all the way to the end the analytics page gave me a lot of information on traffic sources.
I sent my video to some family and friends I have on Facebook, and asked what they liked about it and if there are things i could improve. I made screenshots of what there thoughts.
I also filmed a variation of people and asked what they thought of my music video.
I made a prezi to evaluate the combination of my music video, advert and digipak.
Evaluation Task 1 – In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and inventions of real media products?
To answer this question I chose to create a 3 by 3 ‘art of the title’ style grid of screen shots from your film and then describe in detail with examples how it compares to a similar ‘real’ media product.
I wanted my music video to be as professional as possible to be compared to the real media products which are out there, so I chose 9 key pictures of the video and compared them to the real music videos which have inspired me. Having a song with so many genre’s and having this hippy boho theme was quite hard to compare to a lot of other music videos, however i compared different videos to try and make mine as interesting as possible.
The Dialogue scene
This scene about 20 seconds long and it gives a slight insight of what the music video will be about. The dialogue opening scene portrays a lot of forms and conventions of real media products, because for example ‘National anthem’ – Lana Del Rey and ‘Formation’ – Beyonce. They all help give a nice introduction to what the video is going to be about. I chose to have some dialogue and open the music video with a fight, because it keeps people interested and hooked to the video. A dialogue scene makes the music video very effective and can get the singers point across more clearly. I love in ‘formation’ and ‘Hold Up’ Beyonce speaks and what she says is so powerful, it catches people’s attention and makes the audience want see more.
My Music video officially opens when the music starts, and I have chosen to open with the title of the song, with palm trees swaying in the back ground. My music video uses forms and conventions of real media products, like ‘Telephone’ – Lady Gaga ft. Beyonce, ‘Crave You’ – flight facilities. These music artists also have chosen to present there title in the opening seconds of the video. I chose to add this as well, because it makes it clear what the title of the song is, and that the lyrics of the song is also a synergy to the plot of the music video story line. I also choose to add this I like how this shot is different to the shot before and after which are make to the actors, and the story line, I chose to cross cut between different scenes.
Singer walking around
Throughout the music video, the singer walks around a lot and is in a lot of different settings. This develops forms and conventions of real media products because the blue walls in this music video stand out and make it significant to the singer. It gives the intention that we need to follow her to hear more of the song and to see more of the story that she narrating.
The singer is in a warm climate, she has this relaxed and reggae vibe. She is not involved with the story at all, she is purely narrating the story with the lyrics of the song. having chosen for the singer to narrate the story with the song lyrics has challenged forms and conventions of real media products, because the singer is singing to the audience, therefore have chosen to do a lot of face shots where she looks into the camera, to give it a very personal effect.
This is the turning point of the music video, because you can see Max who was with Flora in the dialogue intro scene is now with another girl. This is a convention of media products because what is happening is very common and therefore could be relatable to a lot of users, and therefore feel very relatable to Flora (the girl who Max cheats on with Elita) We then see that Flora is following them and gets very obsessed with ‘stalking’ Max, This adds humor to the music video.
The saxophone scene
One of the genres that my music video falls under is Jazz, therefore I found it was vital to highlight this genre with using a saxophone. I like the saxophone because its a beautiful instrument, and I wanted to cross cut from the story line to this party scene were you had the saxophone player making music and there were lots of girls around him enjoying and dancing to the music. This shot highlighted the convention of the Jazz genre.
The Dancing scene
In this scene you have the saxophone player, the drummer, and the dancers. This is a very nice scene to look at, people are having fun and enjoying the music and the company of each other. However the dancers are also both Flora and Elita, this is a plot twist to show that they have both been played by the same guy, This is scene points out that when making music everyone must get along and admire the sound. This is This challenges the form and conventions of medical media products .
The man has chosen
In this scene I have chosen to portray the relationship between Max and Elita in a very simple 4 shot way, Extreme Long shot, Extreme Close up, another Extreme close -up to a long shot shot. Through these shots I have shown that Max has chosen Elita over Flora. With the use of extreme close ups I have added humor to this scene. This scene has developed forms and conventions of the song lyrics, and made a very contemporary story line.
The Mystery Girl – The ending
For the end of the video I chose to have a shot of a completely random girl, she has not been pre viewed at all before in the music video. This challenged real media products because it leaves the music video on a cliffhanger, people may wonder, who she is? and will max leave Elita for her. Is she the new ‘other women’? I think it is very interesting and gives a very mysterious feel.
I read the feedback a received and agreed to make some slight changes which were:
